What is happening physiologically?

  • 6-10 follicles began to develop in Inner Spring, between approximately days 8-12 one becomes the dominant follicle and others are reabsorbed

  • Eventually ovulation is triggered by a surge of lutenising hormone (LH) and follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and an ovum is released out of the follicle (ovulation)

  • The structure left behind becomes the corpus luteum - a temporary endocrine gland

  • The corpus luteum produces increasing amounts of progesterone (which raises your BBT) and after an initial drop, constant amounts of oestrogen

  • Your cervix is soft to touch and high
